A fanzine for original characters

Your Tav, your Dark Urge, and all other original characters based on BG3 are unique creations and full of rich lore and fascinating stories.
We want to make a space where all those stories can be collected and you can showcase everything you want the world to know about your OC.

So, what is this about?

First and foremost, the Yearbook is a collection of the characters fans created inspired by Baldur's Gate 3!Each character will be assigned a few pages of space that will contain the following:

  • A character profile with a picture, stats, basic background information (class, favourites, romance partner, fun facts)

  • A page with interview-style questions about the character's lore

  • Two freeform pages that you can fill with pictures, art, fanfiction, letters, family trees, or even more interview questions (there will be plenty!)

FAQ

Is this a zine?

Strictly speaking yes, since the Yearbook will contain fan creations like art and fiction, but it differs in the sense that not all creations have to be made from scratch and you can submit already existing fic, art or other lore about your OC, even if it has been published elsewhere.

Will the Yearbook be digital or physical?

The Yearbook will be a digital release and it will be available to download as a free PDF-file.

Is this a project for charity?

This project is completely free and no donation to a charity is required to download the file when it's finished. We will however suggest some charities down the line and would be happy if you decide to donate if you can!

What kind of content can I submit?

Every creation that features your OC is welcome. That includes but is not limited to: fanfiction, fanart, family trees, letters, virtual photography, renderings, fun facts, or lists of favourites. The first hard rule is that every work that has not been created by yourself will only be published with written consent of the original creator. The second hard rule is that AI-created content is strictly forbidden. For more detailed information, please refer to our Rules for Application

Will the Yearbook be SFW or NSFW?

We are currently discussing the details, but there will definitely be a NSFW section.Due to the nature of the game's story and because we don't want to limit character lore, every participant in the project will have to be 18 or older.

Are all characters and romantic pairings welcome?

All characters created based on BG3 are welcome, no matter their race, class, looks, sexuality, ability level, whether they are modded or vanilla, whether their lore grew and expanded beyond the game, and no matter how they identify or whom their romantic partner/s is or are.

When will it be published?

If the applications match the interest check, we have our work cut out for us, so we are now aiming at 14th September 2025 as our publication date!

Anything else interested parties need to know?

We would be particularly happy to showcase the talents of those in our fandom that are regrettably often overlooked, so we would be delighted to receive applications from creators from the LGBTQIA+ community, creators with disabilities or POC creators.

Yearbook Page Mock-Up

This is a merely a mock-up of how the pages for one character might look. The design, colours, fonts, and everything else is by no means final very much open to change along the way.

Rules for Application

General Rules

  • Only one original character per person can be submitted - we would love to meet them all, but sadly the space is limited.

  • All participants have to be 18 years or older at the time of application

  • Absolutely no generative artificial intelligence (AI) may be used in the creation of the art, texts or other works that are submitted to the Yearbook.

  • All art, virtual photography or writing submitted to the Yearbook must either be your own original creation or will only be included with written consent of the original creator for this particular use.

  • No racism, ableism, transphobia, queerphobia, or other hateful content - It goes without saying that this rule is adamant as far as actual people and events are concerned. It can be a bit of a slippery slope when we look at in-character racism (let’s say: a dwarf displaying racist views towards elves), and we urge you to err on the side of caution before sharing content that might be hurtful to anyone.

  • NSFW/dark content is allowed and encouraged, but please remember to use content warnings whenever you feel something might be triggering to others, and that includes the mods who will review your application.

  • We will not allow any sexualized content involving characters that are minors.

What will we ask you to submit if your application is accepted?

Your OC will be granted 4 pages in the Yearbook, two of which come with a fixed layout (one page: character profile, one page: interview questions). The other two pages (“freeform”) can be filled by a combination of content, as is listed below.

  • For Page 1 of 4: You will be expected to fill in a character profile with basic information about your OC and some fun little bonus questions (think: favourite spell).

  • For Page 1 of 4: You will be expected to provide at least one picture of your OC (art, virtual photography or the like) at a quality of at least 300dpi

  • For Page 2 of 4: You will be expected to reply to at least 4 interview questions that require longer replies (80 words each, give or take). You will be able to pick and choose from a large catalogue of questions for that.

  • For Page 3 & 4 of 4: You will be expected to provide material to fill the 2 freeform pages provided to you. This can be any of the following things or a combination of them:

  • Your own writing (excerpts of roughly 400 words per page, or shorter snippets or ficlets - previously written work is very welcome, a link to the full work may be provided in that case).

  • Snippets you pick from prompts we provide to create a new short piece of writing (~200 words per snippet, two per page max)

  • Art of your OC you provide (either your own or others, used with permission). “Art” is used as an umbrella term for drawings, paintings, virtual photography, photos of physical artworks, 3D renders, or anything else that falls in that category. Art should come in RGB colours and at a resolution of 300 dpi whenever possible.

  • Other information about your OC (songs, poetry, family trees, symbols or crests, anything that does not fit within the other categories)

  • More interview questions from the catalogue you can answer.
